Cedar Falls Wrestling Program @ Sturgis Parade, Saturday June 23rd, 10 AM

As we move into this weekend's Sturgis Falls celebration, the Cedar Falls Wrestling Program including middle school and CF feeder programs have a chance to pay it forward. We will be helping out the City of Cedar Falls, representing the Tiger Wrestling Program, interacting with community members, all while showing our pride in Cedar Falls by helping pick up the parade route following the Sturgis parade.

It will be very similar to last years event, the parade starts at 10 AM. Because we are at the end of the parade we will not be meeting until 10 AM on the south side of Lincoln School. We will meet as a group, get our instructions, following the end of the parade and getting released right back where we started. Parents feel free to tag along if you have little ones.

Wrestlers/ Parents please let me know if you or your wrestler plans on attending so we can gauge numbers and plan accordingly.

Wear your Cedar Falls Wrestling, Tiger Middle School, CFWC or USA Mat Club gear and come out to show your pride in the Cedar Falls Wrestling Program!

Cedar Falls Wrestling Program @ Sturgis Falls Parade, Saturday June 23rd

Its that time again, the Cedar Falls Wrestling Program will be showing its dedication to it's home town by helping keep the City of Cedar Falls clean after this year's Sturgis Falls Parade, Saturday June 23rd. We will be following up the tail end of the parade again this year, working directly with the City of Cedar Falls, to help get everything picked up after this years 43rd anniversary parade. This is a great way for the wrestlers to interact with community members while showing their pride and commitment to the place in which they live.

If you are part of the Cedar Falls High/ Middle School Programs, Cedar Falls Wrestling Club or USA Mat Club you are more than welcome to join us and show your pride in your community by helping, Saturday June 23rd, after the Sturgis Falls Parade!

We will be meeting between 9:45-10AM next Saturday morning @ Lincoln Elementary to get our assignments for the project. Please wear your Cedar Falls Wrestling, CFWC, or USA Mat Club shirts to represent your program as we help out the city of Cedar Falls!

I will be sending out additional emails and updates over the next week to make sure we are all ready to roll next Saturday. Parents or wrestlers please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

2018 Grandview Wrestling Dual Team Camp Results

The Cedar Falls Wrestling Program participated in the Grandview University Team Dual Camp this past weekend. This is a wrestling camp hosted and facilitated by the Grandview University Wrestling coaching staff and wrestlers. This is a great camp that was composed of Iowa and Nebraska wrestling programs throughout all divisions. 14 teams, including Solon, Omaha Burke, North Scott just to name a few, battled it out to see who could go home with the chance to call themselves tourney champions. Though we were unable to snag the top spot, our 19 total wrestlers ranging from 8th-11th graders, battled each and every match while improving throughout the day. Cedar Falls finished 4-1 on the day and lost our final dual to tournament champions Solon, 39-30. Most wrestlers got between 3-5 competitive matches. While the guys were able to walk away with a W in most cases, the ones that we lost they were able to take valuable experience and coaches provided techniques to help them succeed in the future!

I wanted to send a quick shout out to the Grandview Wrestling Coaching staff and wrestlers for providing a great Camp! I also want to recognize all of the wrestlers: Connor McCarten, Reece Dietz, Carson Cross, Gabe Hayes, Antwonie Cuhat, Jackson Barth, Justin Simpson,  Jack Plagge, Austin Cross, Landon Schaul, Drew Campbell, Christian Simpson, Ryley Barnett, Lincoln Willett, Dakota Southworth, Wil Doyle, Collin Bohenkamp, Ben Bowman, and Justin Campbell.

Our offseason wrestling work at the USA Mat Club continues to grow in participation, intensity, and success. Our tournament and program success would not be where it is today or where it can be without the help and dedication of the Cedar Falls Wrestling Coaching and USA Mat Club staff as well as the wrestlers themselves buying into the system and dedicating themselves to the program!

*Correction* 2018 USAW Kids/Cadet/Junior Folkstyle Nationals

*Correction*

The Cedar Falls area wrestlers had a total of 8 wrestlers compete in last weekend's USAW Folkstyle National tournament at the UNI Dome. Freshmen, Logan Vallejo, wrestled in the very competitive Cadet 113 bracket. Logan had 2 hard fought matches against wrestlers from Minnesota and Wisconsin respectively.

Though Logan was unable to come away with a victory he as well as the other wrestlers; Conner McCarten, Dylan Whitt, Ryley Barnett, Bailey Roybal, Jack Plagge, Lincoln Willett, and Justin Campbell all gained valuable "Big Show" experience that will help them next year as they return to the Cedar Falls HS Wrestling Program!

2018 USAW Kids/Cadets/Juniors Folkstyle Nationals 3/28-3/31

The Cedar Falls Wrestling Program, CFWC, and USA Mat Club had several wrestlers participate this last weekend in USAW Folkstyle Nationals at the UNI Dome. We had a total of 7 wrestlers participate in 3 different divisions. As we continue through the offseason the increased participation in at these offseason tournaments only shows that our wrestlers are buying and believing into the system. We only look forward to the success of our current and future Cedar Falls Wrestling Programs!

Junior Justin Campbell, Sophomore Jack Plagge, Freshmen Bailey Roybal and Lincoln Willett, 8th Connor McCartan all had very good tournaments all getting a win in the national tournament. Both Bailey and Lincoln fell just short of All-American honors getting knocked out 1 round from placing.

8th Dylan Whitt and Ryley Barnett were able to get to the podium with Dylan Whitt placing 4th and Ryley Barnett capturing the top spot as National Champion! Dylan had a tough road losing his first round match but battling back, winning his next 4 matches before losing the 3rd place match in the ultimate tie breaker OT 5-4. Ryley went 3-0 in route to his first National Championship!

The Cedar Falls Wrestling Program is looking forward to more offseason participation from all of the Cedar Falls area wrestlers. We are working out at the USA Mat Club M,T,TH nights 6:30-7:45. Stop in and check it out.
