CFWC Sunday 12/16 Tournement @ Dike

Happy Saturday CFWC Parents!

CFWC Sunday Tournament- It looks like we will have 10-15 wrestlers competing at the Dike Tournament this weekend. Due to the large amount of CFWC wrestlers who wanted to go to Dike the CFWC staff has decided to send our coaches to the Dike Tournament instead of the CR Prairie tournament on Sunday 12/16. CFWC coaches will not be at the CR Prairie tournament due to the pure number of wrestlers attending the Dike Tournament, we will be sending coaching there. I will not be at either tournament this weekend but Coach KC will be at Dike around 12:45 as the first group completes weigh-ins. He will get the boys warmed up about 15 mins before wrestling starts for each group. Parents please feel free to help the coaches out by getting them to the warm up and them know what mat your wrestler is on so they know who is all there competing.

CFWC Singlets-

Due to the issues with the singlets, the vendor has decided to remake the whole batch. They know we have already passed our these singlets but asked us to return the old singlets so they can determine what went wrong. We anticipate the new singlets in the next week but you will need to return the singlets as we hand out the new ones. Thanks for all of your patience on this.

Go get them tomorrow!

CFWC Weekly Recap, December 10th.

We had a great weekend at the AP wrestling tournament yesterday! We had 22 wrestlers compete from PK-8th grade. This is a great turn out and we continue to see more and more wrestlers at each tourney. The boys wrestled well, fought their butts off, and got better every match! We look forward to helping these boys sharpen their skills a bit in the practice room this week to get ready for our next chance to get on the mat. We can already see their hard work paying off on the weekends! Remember it not about the wins and losses it what these guys learn and take away from them that will make a difference. If they have the drive, fight, dedication, and heart the wins and losses will take care of themselves in due time.

Great job this weekend Fellas!!!

CFWC Singlet and Gear Update, CF Tigers vs CR Washington Dual @ CF 12/6

Good Evening CFWC Parents,

There is NO CFWC Practice tomorrow, December 6, for either group. Tomorrow night the Cedar Falls HS Program has a home dual meet against Cedar Rapids Washington with JV starting at 6:15pm and the varsity immediately following. We invite you all to come out and see your Tiger Wrestling squad make it 2 wins in a row to start the 18/19 season.

We have the singlets in hand as of today, 12/5. I apologize for the delay but we have them sorted and ready to hand out. For those of you looking to get your singlet before this weekend's tourney at AP, we will be handing out CFWC Gold Membership singlets tomorrow night from 5:30-6PM before the start of the dual. We will be located in the main activity entrance in front of the gym where you come into the gym.

CFWC gear orders that did not include embroidery items , hats, stocking hats, etc. and chose coordinator pick are completed and will be ready at the front as well. If you paid for shipping or marked in store pick up, they have already been shipped or you should have been contacted that your order is ready for pick up. The orders that have embroidery items will not be done until Monday 12/10 and I hope to have them next Tuesday for practice but I am not guaranteeing it because they have fooled me before. Again, I apologize for the delay and will keep this in mind for next years order.

AP Dirty Bird Tourney- Sunday 12/09

This is a new tournament for us this year, we did not attend this one last year but should be a good one for a lot of our wrestlers. Looks like it has turned into a walk in tourney for us, the online registration does not look like it is working correctly but its not a big deal walk in is the same price and just as easy. Its a tourney with later weigh in and start time and we should be out of there is a few hours. For those of you who were wondering when time to get there I would say no earlier than you division start weigh in time. Coaches will be there around 11am and will get the boys warmed up for each division about 15 mins before wrestling start for each group. Please let me know, if you have not already, if your wrestler plans on competing  so I can plan for coaches needed.

CFWC Weekly Update, Sunday 12/2

We have *regular scheduled practice this Tuesday night, 12/4 for both CFWC groups.* I hope to have the singlets there and ready to hand out that Tuesday night. Thursday 12/6, we have another home CF dual against CR Washington starting at 6:15pm, varsity will start no earlier than 7pm. There will be *NO CFWC practice on Thursday 12/6 due to the home dual against Washington.* If the singlets are not in by Tuesday’s practice we will also be able to hand them out Thursday before the CR Washington dual for those who attend. We will follow up with time and location if needed.

As for the club gear we anticipated it to be 3 weeks form order date which would have been last Friday but with the Thanksgiving holiday it has been a bit longer and we apologize. I have been in contact with ISS and they said it should be completed this week. For those of you who has director pick up, I will bring these to practice as soon as we get them.

Our next competition will be this, Sunday 12/9, @ the Aplington-Parkersburg Dirtybird tourney. If we get the singlets out we can plan to wear them and represent the CFWC in full force Sunday! Please let me know who plans on competing this upcoming weekend so we can plan for coaches. Let me know if you have any questions.

CFWC Recognition Night @ CF HS Dual against Western Dubuque Thursday 11/29

CFWC.JPG

There will be NO CFWC practice for either group tomorrow night, Thursday 11/29. Instead we invite you all to come out and watch the Cedar Falls HS Wrestling Program kick off the 18/19 season with their 1st dual of the season against Western Dubuque.

All CFWC wrestlers will get into the dual for free and we would like them to wear their CFWC club wrestling shirt because between the JV/ Exhibition and the Varsity duals we will call the CFWC wrestlers down say a little something about the CFWC and recognize the hard work they have already put in this season. The JV dual starts at 6:15 pm, we will like all wrestlers there by 6:40 pm. When we are close to wrapping up the JV dual Coach KC will get everyone together and organized down behind the bleachers in the back gym

Come out and show your support for the CFWC wrestlers as well as the Cedar Falls HS Program!

CFWC Weekly Update and Look Forward 11/25/2018

We were able to get some additional mat time this weekend at the Union Knights Holiday Classic. We had 14 wrestlers competing this past weekend and we get better and better every time we step on the mat. The CFWC was unable to crown a champion at the tourney but we were able to capture several runner-up and 3rd place trophies!

Tate Peters, Gunner Emery, Koen Meyer, Keaton Smith, Jackson Humpal, Dominick Bagby, Ledger Bloome, Beckett Curran, Phoenix Bloome, Maddox Curran, Blake Jones, Caysen Curran, Nolan Farmer all competed this last weekend.

We have regular scheduled CFWC practice for both groups this Tuesday 11/27. We will not have practice on Thursday 11/29 due to the Cedar Falls HS Wrestling team hosting Western Dubuque starting at 6:15. We will have CFWC Member Recognition night at the Western Dubuque Dual 11/29 between the JV and Varsity duals. We hope CFWC membership shirts by this Tuesday night so we hand them out at practice and members can wear them to the dual on Thursday night to show their support for the Cedar Falls HS team. All CFWC wrestlers will have free admission, parents will need to pay regular gate, to the dual and encourage everyone to come out and cheer on the Tigers as we wrestle the Bobcats this Thursday night.

We hope to have all the rest of the gear by the end of this week and the singlets by next Tuesday. We do not have a youth tourney scheduled for this upcoming weekend so the boys can get a weekend off but the HS will be hosting the Keith Young at CF HS this Saturday come check out some of the best of Iowa HS wrestling. We will get back in competition the following Sunday 12/9 @ DBWC Wrestling Tourney at Aplington Parkersburg HS. Please me know if you have any questions or concerns.

CFWC @ Union Knight Holiday Classic, Saturday 11/24/18

2018.2019 CFWC Logo.JPG

Good afternoon CFWC Parents,

I just wanted to send a quick update reminding everyone about the Union Knights Holiday Classic tomorrow, Saturday 11/24/2018 @ LaPorte City Union HS. This tournament does accept walk-in entries so it is not too late to get the boys out there to wrestle tomorrow.

https://www.thepredicament.com/wp-content/uploads/UnionKnights2018.pdf

Weigh-ins are from 7-7:50 am and wrestling starts at 9 or as soon as the weights are done bracketing. This is a well ran tourney with good competition for beginners as well as advanced wrestlers. They do a great job getting through the brackets and getting wrestlers and parents out of there at a good time so you can get back to the holiday weekend!

Sounds like we will have about 10 wrestling that I know of and we encourage all that can make it do. Mat time is important and the more live tournaments experience the better at any level. Please let me know, if you have not already, if you wrestlers will be competing so we can plan accordingly for coaches needed for  tomorrow.

I will be sending a weekly recap Sunday, please make sure we are following the Cedar Falls Wrestling Club Facebook page and checking out our club updates on the CFWC club page at

cfwrestling.org. We are still getting our contact information together but please feel free to send or contact me with questions or if you need someone added to the list.

Have a great holiday weekend, hope to see you tomorrow!

CFWC Update 11/18

Good afternoon CFWC parents,

We have had a great first 2 weeks of the CFWC 18/19 season! As we look over the last few weeks, we have went over a lot of techniques and the boys have come a long way but we have a long way to go. I know both the wrestlers and coaches are up to the challenge!

We had over 15 wrestlers compete at the Hudson little Pirate tournament and 1 is competing at the Mini-Mustang in Independence today. Yesterday was the first tournament for a lot of these wrestlers. Both beginners and seasoned CFWC wrestlers fought their butts off out on the mat. It’s not about the wins and losses but what we can take away from and every match!

Please stop these guys and congratulate them on their hard work this weekend!

Owen Iverson, Liam Wiechmann, Sam Miller, Tate Peters, Gunner Emery, Koen Davenport, Landon Wiechmann, Gavin Matthias, Beckett Curran, Jackson Humpal, Ledger Bloome, Dominick Bagby, Phoenix Bloome, Aiden Williams, Maddox Curran, Caysen Curran,  and Caiden Rentz.

We have a short week this week with only 1 practice this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We love this time of year and want you all to spend some quality time with family. We will be at the Unions Knights Holiday Classic this upcoming Saturday, November 24th. This tournament is a well run tourney and usually get out of there between 2/3 PM if not earlier. This is another great tourney to go to for both beginners and experienced wrestlers. It would be great to see the same number if not more attend the Union tourney. We want everyone to know the CFWC is here to stay and will be a force to reckoned with now and in the future. Registration is attached and I know the tourney director very well so if there are any issues please let me know and we can get it figured out.

Please let me know if your wrestler plans on competing so we can have coaches available for all matches.
