Several CFWC members were able to brave the winter weather and get on the mat to compete. We had 10 wrestlers at the Iowa City, MatPac, tournament on Sunday. We had wrestlers all the way from K-8th participating with a lot of competitive and quality matches. The boys had a great time at the club overnight with lots of swimming, pizza, and fun at the hotel with their teammates. As the club grows and parents / wrestlers become more familiar with each other, we plan to have more of these and other get togethers like this in the future.
If you see these wrestlers please give them a pat on the back for a job well done down in IC.
We will have regular scheduled CFWC practice for both groups on both Tuesday and Thursday this week with plans to head to the Redhawk Wrestling Club Tourney in Traer, Iowa this Sunday, 1/27/2019. The tourney is fairly close and should be a good tourney for the majority of our wrestlers and a good opportunity to get some mat time before heading into the Iowa AAU District qualifier, Feb 3rd @ Waverly HS.
This qualifier is for 3-8th grade wrestlers and top 4 qualify for Iowa AAU Kids State Wrestling Tournament @ Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on February 23 / 24th. We encourage all wrestlers that have been participating for more than 2 years and or are in 7/8th grade to participate. This is a great opportunity to compete against some of the best competition in the area to see where we are as a club and what we need to work on to compete and surpass those wrestlers. Last year we had 4 wrestlers participate and 3 of those wrestlers qualified and represented the CFWC in Des Moines. I will send out more information on both the district qualifier and state wrestling tourney later this week.
Please remember if you have pictures of your athletes or the team to send them to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get them posted to the website and Facebook page.
For any weather updates or cancellations I will try and get something our via email but you can also follow is at @cfallswrestling on twitter and check our Facebook or website pages for updates.
